What is Civic Connections?
Civic Connections is a student-led platform dedicated to extending the reach of youth into their local communities. By connecting student impact groups with local officials, Civic Connections seeks to create mutually beneficial relationships, offering students the opportunity to advocate for the things they care about, while offering government officials the opportunity to tap into the younger generation and understand their needs.
By simply making introductions or connections, Civic Connections is already helping take youth social impact ideas to the legislators who are taking the steps to implement them.
Civic Connections recently introduced the founders of a nonprofit to Senator John McKeon. The students pitched a no-cost government-led social entrepreneurship initiative for NJ youth. The program would match high school students with mentors from the education, government, and business sectors.
Everyday decisions are made at the local, state, and national levels that shape the future of our youngest generation. Civic Connections hopes that our one-day voters can play a role in molding their futures.

Jack KleinGrowing up in a politically active household, I have always felt a gravitation towards civic work. From volunteering at soup kitchens to working the ballots, I've done my best to take advantage of many opportunities to contribute to my broader community.
I worked on a 2025 NJ gubernatorial campaign to make waves. This experience allowed me to see new leadership possibilities, including directing phone banks and canvass launches for the campaign. I learned that although I was just a high schooler, I could be trusted with and handle the responsibilities of adults if I put the appropriate time and effort into a project.
Inspired by the agency the campaign offered me, I took the steps to create my own initiative, Civic Connections. I am a major believer in youth empowerment and am determined to help my peers make waves as well.
